Rachel Machowsky is an architect and designer focused on thoughtfully crafted residential renovations throughout the New York metropolitan area. Her work blends a rigorous architectural approach with an artist’s sensitivity to material, proportion, and atmosphere — creating homes that feel both highly functional and deeply personal.

Drawing from years of experience managing complex renovations in New York City, Rachel approaches each project with a strong understanding of how people actually live in their spaces. Whether reconfiguring a townhouse, renovating a historic home, or transforming a kitchen or bath, she is known for uncovering the full potential of a space through careful planning, refined detailing, and a restrained, timeless aesthetic.

Her process is grounded in the belief that successful design is both beautiful and intuitive. She prioritizes clarity, livability, and thoughtful spatial flow while balancing the technical demands of construction with the emotional experience of home. The result is interiors that feel elevated yet effortless — tailored to the rhythms and needs of the people who inhabit them.

Rachel earned a Bachelor of Arts from Brown University with dual concentrations in Architectural Studies and Visual Studies before receiving her Master of Architecture from the Columbia University Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation. She has worked as a designer and project manager in both New York City and Chicago and is a licensed architect in New York. Outside of her practice, Rachel enjoys spending time at home with her husband and two children, drawing continued inspiration from the rhythms of everyday family life and the meaning of home.
